i wonder if using my meds or not will ultimately change how i play in a chess tournament
Does ADHD Affect Chess Skill?
I don't think I have it because I can concentrate very deeply. I wonder if it's possible to cure adhd by meditating.it is a way to deal with the hyperactivness aspect and over thinking part but no it doesnt cure ADHD The thing about meditation is to observe your thoughts and not to interact with them. That leads to accepting your thoughts and ultimately, perhaps after a long time or maybe after a short time, controlling your thoughts in a natural way, which means that your thoughts don't continually distract you.no thinking 30 different thoughts at once is distracting.

Shut up, grow up and learn stuff.
Why thanks for your helpful input
Also I overthink way more than most people and I actually do meditate it might help control your overthinking but it still doesn't stop how much your mind races or how emotional you get
it does , I'll ignore the idiots who pretend it doesn't exist . ADHD comes in varying severity but the problem is remaining focused on the game and spotting problems.

The focusing is the easy part for ADHD the hard part is not getting distracted

I dont know.
I would think it would greatly interfere ?
Real classic OTB chess means literally concentrating for hours.
Not something ADHD is supposed to be able to do ?!?
Blitz is maybe better.

I don't use meds because of the possibility it might be anxiety and not adhd I also think using meds is kinda dumb
you actually know what the issue is first (they tried to put me on meds before figuring out the problem)
Lapse of concentration leads to silly mistakes. I would also tend to think that an adhd brain, craving for dopamine, tends to lean towards unsound tactical play rather than principled positional play with disciplined calculation.

I have ADHD but I am also on the autistic spectrum and one of the "features" of being autistic is being able to concerntrate on one thing for a very long amount of time. In OTB tournamnts I often find that I perform rly well in the earlier rounds then slow down in the later rounds. This may just be because I am playing harder opponent but my personal theory is that my ADHD starts to take over, my reasoning for this is simple. The later it gets the more likely it is that I will start randomly thinking about ice cream...

adhd is already on the autism spectrum
It is ? I didn't know that cause ei thought adhd was different from autism
I have adhd :^)
