Einstein showed that time is the 4th dimension.

therefore chess as an idea in time exists, but once we act on it it ceases to exist and the existence becomes but a trace, a flame, a spark, a shadow
Language, thought, it all comes down to our perception of reality in the end doesn't it?
But it's inherent, I believe, for us to think that there is a concrete, physical reality and only one, with the possibilities of its future being endless.
fiveofswords its clear objects dont exist, we agree. a "line" is an idea (a "4d" thing) not a reality (we call things lines but...
the fact that a line is an idea is irrelevant to the fact that a line can be finite while being composed of an infinite number of points or indeed an infinite number of finite distances (so long as their length converges towards zero). Therefore since your argument is not true in general, it therefore is not true in the specific category of empirical objects.
while you said points in your original post on the subject you do have a point with an infinite number of finite distances.
Chess exists! We'll leave it at that.
Chess is a temporary construct of a feeble human intellect trying desperately to justify an existence that is without meaning or purpose.
Greek philosophy BS? Ummmm it was the foundation of western society. It also redirected us from superstition and towards rational thought. I am a big fan of rational thought. I guess you are not.
Didn't DesCarte say I think therefore, I fart?
it was "i stink, therefore i farted maybe".

it's irrelavant today. it may have influenced lots of philosophers in history because there was nothing else worth reading. but rational thought really started with renaissance and wasn't exactly matured until descartes.
Greek philosophy as scientific knowledge was never the point. it is to be wise as socrates said 'i am wiser than others because although they know nothing they think they do whereas i accept that i know nothing.' and plato always ending in aporias, the goal was to 'empty' oneself out.
or 'fill' oneself, depending on how you look at it. this seems clear. something exists and something does not . and this is supported by the fact that if something exists, it means it is not the other thing

There is a reality beyond language; language was created by us.
Anyway, it's 1:40 AM here, so I'll make a disappearance. Good night!
