Does chess make you happier?

The answer is simply ✨NO✨

Yes

Chess is not a game that generates peace. It's a continuous alternation of satisfaction and frustration for everyone who takes it seriously. The only way to fully enjoy it, is to make the game enjoyable for both players, like when I play with my mother or brother who don't know how to play: mostly I let them win or I force a draw, and we're all happy.

I don’t think chess has anything to do with happiness or unhappiness. Happiness comes from who you are, what you’ve done and are working on, the kind of life you’ve built and the people you’re surrounded by, etc. Chess is just a game you pick up and play when there’s free time (for 99% of players). So it’s just a categorically weird and confused question

Do you like playing it? If so yes

If a synonym for happier is crazier, then, YES, chess makes us all much more happier!

I rue the day i took up chess, frankly. However, like a Chinese finger trap, once in its impossible to get out of. cry

pcwildman

Maddeningly yes. I like the Chinese finger trap analogy. 😁🙄

If you do something that doesn't give you any kind of pleasure, just don't do it. But like anything that's a challenge, there will be times when playing chess becomes frustrating. But it's the desire to improve that brings you joy, not the end in itself. If it were easy, it wouldn't be worth pursuing.

Yes, it does, cos there is more to chess than the game. There is much enjoyable study. Running a club and tournaments. There is much fun to be had.

No, chess makes me irritable and tired
