Dont play the goriing or danish gambit

The goriing gambit here is easily declined and black gets and equal or better game(in theory) because whites tempo doesnt matter due to the isolated pawn

if you are thinking of playing a gambit in this is system try the scotch gambit

and maybe then white can play c3 with dangerous attacking chances

I agree, and would add that there are tons of other lines for black against this with the same idea of not taking the pawns, like by accepting both pawns then playing ...d5, and on top of all this equal crap white still has to prove his gambit can work even if black keeps both pawns (or gives back just one), which although dangerous for black is far from clear to me. I used to not like refusing gambits because it was like saying the gambiteer is correct, but as I matured I began to appreciate having a fully equal position as black and a safe, solid game right from the start (in many gambits anyway), which is just what gambiteers don't want.

what about the danish gambit?

the goriing gambit is an "improved version" of the danish, you can tranpose or just play d5 after playing exd4

It is much better if you will put the starting moves, or simply notations out there. It's kinda hard for some new members here to figure out how and why the position went out that way. But nevertheless thanks for letting us know.

I love it when class players refute the openings.

Yes, they remind me of pushy car salesmen.

But to be fair, the OP did not say that either gambit was refuted, he simply claimed that both gambit give Black at least equal play.

I don't think it's white to move in the Scotch Gambit diagram above. It looks like when I play Nf6 and head for the 2-Knights Defense.

Which is why I like the Goring ... by move 7.5 there's no firm "book", no clear advantage or disadvantage, just White having initiative and Black having a pawn.

The Savchenko game above is a 2-knights by transposition. It's pretty main-line stuff.

Kintoki is sadly right, most people dont know how to play against it!

Most people don't know how to play against most anything. For what it's worth, you may as well play 1. f3.

Still, you don't know how tough it is for a guy like me to avoid posting a picture of a danish in this thread.

The ones in the picture above are Maple Danishes from Tim Horton's. They are the very best type of Danish.Smile
