E4 OR D4

What do you think? What is better?

D4 has solid openings and E4 has tons of openings to choose from & more.

Please tell me your recommendations in the comments

E4 is more aggressive so that but outside these 2 I love Nf3

I like d4

1.e4! begins play on the kingside & leads to either more space or better development in an open position--factors that support white, who starts with the initiative.

until they play 1...c5 & crush you lol.  😆

On Patzer level it is statistically about equal. 1. e4 has a 49 %  winrate and a 46% loss rate. 1. d4 has a 50% winrate and a 45% loss rate. Best move on Patzer level is 1.Nf3 with a 51% winrate and only 43% loss rate.

On Master level you have to know both 1.d4 and 1.e4 nowadays and then play the move you think your opponent plays the weaker defence against.

It is entirely a matter of personal preference.
