Not, 'written-in-Stone'.. but..{fwiw}.. " 'The Golden Rule' -'He who Owns the Gold' ..{ie. hosts & help sponsor the 'tourney'} - Makes the rules"! ..

Otherwise..  if Any 'tourney' is worthy, of being boycotted - This is the one!!

In some cases foreigners are jailed for e.g. drinking alcohol and they're forced to stay there for years to serve their sentence...

Yes I really hope the chess world stands up to this.

Fred,

While I do agree that our military has been extended to places it should not be, I hope you understand that if it were not for countries like the US, England, Canada, and Australia (in reference to WWII), Europe would be under a very different rule today.

And as far as delivering "war, death and misery" to other countries, I think the Islamic terrorists groups proudly hold the record for doing that.

Furthermore.... How can you get to Iran? It's currently in uproar.

Never mind that the chess world should stand up to FIDE, like someone said if there was ever a a tournament to boycott, this is it.

Covering a woman's head by force is akin to keeping a bird in a cage or banning flowers from public. Beauty is not a crime neither is being female. I think I'm gonna be sick.

Susan Polgar is right, if a country wants to respect the dignity of their women by using hijab that is their right. In UK and Germany many women wear hijab and even veils! In London almost half of women population wear hijab, if it is right here so is in Iran! Actually London is more islamic than Iran, even the mayor of london is a muslim. May Jesus bless all!

Half the population in London wear hijab? You simply made that up!

USA does bring stability... but that means picking sides. US has killed millions and supplied chemical weapons and money to people like Sadam which he used against civilian when he was fighting Iran. It's a pretty dirty history if you look at it objectively, but that will probably get the topic locked... On the positive side it helps nations get along and there are less wars overall.

anymore references to American colonialism or Islamic terrorism and I start to push some buttons on people, the issue is coercing women chess players to wear a certain cultural/religious garb.

 robbie,

I know. My apologies. Sometimes I feel the need to stand up and speak the truth. But you are correct. This is not the place for it.
