Was any of this transfer of personal/financial information made over a secure https connection? The initial Join screen is regular http, but that was as far as I could get without actually entering some sensitive info. Also, their app requires Java, which gives me the willies.
Edit - Apparently, payment info is sent via ssl. However, the login/password isn't. The big question is whether their ssl implementation is worth a darn.
This is a total information grabbing scam. I registered a username earlier today (much earlier today), entered in all of my personal information, attached a photo of my Driver's License for a FIDE ID#, and entered in all of my payment information. Each time I do this and try to pay, it just cycles me back to the main FIDE Online Arena page. No payment confirmation, no additional instructions, no upgrade, no nothing.
I have emailed both email contacts available on the website multiple times about this and heard absolutely nothing back all day. Obviously this isn't a legitimate service or they would respond to their emails and you would actually be allowed to sign up for a new account.
So, there it is: Warning - Do not enter in personal information to this site or attempt to sign up for a new account. You can't sign up for a new account, nobody will respond to any emails you send, and you'll have just sent all of your personal information over to someone on the internet for absolutely nothing.
