FIDE rating is the normal published rating. TPR is that one tournaments average performance. Example: had that player never played any previous games then that one tournaments performance would be what their rating is.
FIDE Ratings and Tournament Performance Ratings (TPR)
The FIDE rating is your normal rating. The TPR (Tournament Performance Rating) shows how you played in a given tournament.
How they calculate TPR is the following.
- If you win a game, your TPR will be the opponent's rating +400
- If you lose a a game, your TPR will be the opponent's rating -400
- If you draw a game, your TPR will be the opponent's rating.
After that they add this values and divide it by the number of games you play.
Note: difference between players rating higher than 400 is counted as 400. So for example if you are rated 1800 and play against a GM rated 2500 it will be counted as if you played against a 2200 rated player.

You are wrong.
FIDE, however, calculates performance rating by means of the formula: Opponents' Rating Average + Rating Difference. Rating Difference d_p is based on a player's tournament percentage score p, which is then used as the key in a lookup table where p is simply the number of points scored divided by the number of games played. Note that, in case of a perfect or no score d_p is 800. The full table can be found in the FIDE handbook, B. Permanent Commissions 1.0. Requirements for the titles designated in 0.31, 1.48 online.

I played my first OTB tournament yesterday and today and got a performance rating just over 1000. So considering I have never played FIDE rated games before , will my performance rating this time effectively become my FIDE rating by the end of the month?

There was a proposal to make 1400 to be the lowest possible rating, though I don't know if it passed at the last meeting. If it did, you would not get a rating.

The proposal was accepted and will come into effect from Jan 2024 . Everyone's rating would be revised . 1000 FIDE would jump to 1400.
