I have read most of the comments on this thread and have come to a conclusion. I have been playing chess for 45 years. When I was a kid, I played tactical openings and tried for quick checkmates, like most beginners do. However, as I learned more about the game, I started playing book openings, including the old gambits (Smith-Morra, Scotch Gambit and Center Counter Gambit, mostly). They were fun games, but I quickly discovered that they were riskier than the more solid 1. d4 openings. I tried all kinds of openings next (English, King's Indian Attack, Nimzo-Larsen Attack, etc.) finally settling on 1. d4. I consider myself to be more of a positional player now, but if the situation on the board demands tactics and an aggressive attack on the opponent's king, I will realize it and become a tactical player, thanks to my previous background. So, it's good to study many openings, if you have the time and patience. See which one you like best and then stick with that one and try to master it. Your "style" doesn't really matter all that much if you are flexible and can find the best plans in each game.
Will Playing Tactically When my Style is Positional Improve my Chess Skill?

Phil Collins was one of the best singers of all-time, but a better drummer than Neil Peart? Doubtful.

Honestly...I do think Neal Pert is the best, but its been a running joke between myself and a friend. Thats why i go to my favorite Phil Collins. I also think Chester Thompson, and Gene Krupa are right up there too.

Is there a specific KingSideInvasion unrealistic sentence that you would want to call to our attention?

Care to try to identify a specific KingSideInvasion sentence that would justify such an accusation?
Yes I will:
"Will Playing Tactically When my Style is Positional Improve my Chess Skill?" ...
...
…
... Can we safely assume that your objection is to the idea that his style is positional? Is there any reason to doubt that he was simply trying to give a quick indication of the sort of opening where he feels "comfortable"?
You win spongey. Have a blessed day.
Are we going to see an apology to KingSideInvasion?
If an apology was warranted, which it isnt. That would be between myself and the OP.
So you stand behind, "… I get wanting to sound like a better chess player than you are. …"?
You stand behind commenting in this thread about learning to be realistic about abilities?
You didn't exactly keep those comments between yourself and KingSideInvasion, did you?

Sounds like there may be no more to address with regard to you.
There's no need for public apology. The Public isn't offended.

I mentioned in some forums serious question should be asked in Quora. I assume OP is serious. But he can't expect in a public forum All Agreeable replies. Every one has rights to express each opinion. If the thread starter can't stand criticism in chess.com, go to Quora.
