give me a filter please!

Please please please can we have a filter in live chess to chose to play with people who can use the chat and both play?

I am dead bored of people who cannot be asked to even say hello...

I mean, is it too much to ask a person to write up a line every 5 moves? I cannot (seriously cannot) conceive playing a game without commenting it. I think it takes the fun out of a game to play silently.

I do not wish or desire that everyone or even the majority likes the same, but can I please be allowed to play only with "chatters"?

I severely underperform in games where people do not answer my posts. I get bored at move 5 and by move 10 i have done some move incredibly stupid move because of the upset/boredom.

Please, please please, can we have a "chatter only" option?????

I'd be the other way, it's the chatting that distracts me! If you like to only play chatters, that's fine, it's your choice. But personally I find people jabbering away while I am trying to think a move or two ahead very annoying! Not that I really need an excuse to underperform, but I suppose it is handy to have a reason to blame it on at times too!

Each to their own though eh?  Smile

I am sure it also works the other way.

Wouldn't it be nice to be able to chose the kind of persone you want to play?

Making a single filter should not be that hard

LAexpress12

you could challenge people that appear in the main hall alot

Personally, I'd join the non-chatters as most of the live chess chat is juvenile.

I don't really go there at all.

In fact, chaatting per se has no appeal at all to me.

But playing a game without commenting on the moves loses half of the appeal of the match to me

Discussion works, but trash talking is for the birds. You don't talk OTB.

"You don't talk OTB."

uhu?? acronyms need some explaination...

DrawMaster

When playing a serious over-the-board (OTB) game, there is usually NO conversion whatsoever between players between the two handshakes (i.e., to start and end the game).

Of course, most chess here is a bit less serious than that, in my view. However, after my initial 'gl' (for good luck), I usually don't type another word until the game ends, at which point I type 'handshake ... thx for playing.'

To each his own, however.

ok, maybe i am not a serious person, or a serious player, whatever.

I have been playing chess socially for the last 30 years (I am 37 now) and I always enjoyed some banter and a beer or two over the board.

What i say is not that who doesn't love to chat should not be allowed so, on the contrary, that people who like and do not like to chat should be allowed to play wih their likes...

No, I beg to differ here.

Now that I understand your acronym, I DO in fact talk over the board.

A lot.

And ... it's quite fun. The reason why I never play the computer, in fact, is that i find incredibly boring that he never replies :D

yes I do :)

Its the banter and community feeling that is one of the things making Chess.com a great place to come. You can go to any site for silent play and cheaters too!

Sure the chat is juvenille. Who wants to talk about death and politics on every forum. Im glad for the members who chat and flirt and teach. Thats what human beings do.

Kimboz I think its great that you want to be human. :)
