I am not sure I completely get the last one, but for the first one it was against the rules for people who have membership and just want it because it would expire to participate. So even if they appeared in the random pick, I would just random pick again.

in that thread the person before marioparty4 said "ill take my chances"

ie they thought they had a good chance

but they didnt get it, instead the person after them (who thought they had a bad chance) got it

Apparently, today it was announced that I got the second-place in an international competition with a price of $200 (though for private reasons I need to share it with some people, so it would be something like $40 for me), and I would try to use it all to give memberships for the contests in the upcoming weeks. The ceremony which I would receive the money from is going to be held Thursday as far as I understand. So I would possibly make the next contest Friday or Saturday. I would make a forum before that day to announce the exact time and further details.

Considering your rating, I believe you had a previous closed account. It isn't like it you can't join, but the gold membership won't help a lot with that rating.

actually, I just recently improved ~200 points from 1700 to 1900, this new account was made after i ragequit playing chess and closed my account, made a new one at 1600 and somehow won my way up to 2000. now im floating somewhere in the high 1800s and low 1900s

but yeah the only thing i used my free diamond was for the flair
