Well i know where the op is coming from. I too prefer v2 mainly because i know how to use it. I haved visited v3 and i can see that alot of hard work has been done to improve the site but at my age (65) I would had prefered if they had left it alone. However once v3 is my only option i will give it a go.Maybe someday i will prefer v3 but only time will tell.At least the v2 was allowed to exist longer than i expected.Oh well.....like George Harrison sang..."all things must pass".
Good bye chess.com

Still here I see...and pickin' the blues.
yup I still here, I still have till the 1st of Oct. 4 weeks, 28 days, 672 hours, 40320 mins, 2.419.200 Sec.

For all the V2 users that are struggling with V3. Take your time getting to know V3 don't panic and go to this link as much as you can. 39 UTube videos made by Danny showing how to do many things in V3. If you really want to learn V3 they will help

OK chess.com users. There's a place to post everything good about V2 and debate why V2 should be maintained. V2 DESERVES TO LIVE ON www.chess.com/forum/view/community/v2-deserves-to-live-on Personally, I think chess.com as a business should consider that by upsetting the status quo and FORCING people to use V3 instead of democratically keeping V2 for the old school, they will certainly not gain any users, only lose some. Any sensible manager would realize that just like gravitation accumulates dust into planets, users beget users.

like i said in that thread you've spammed here, chess.com is not a democracy

39 videos to show you how to navigate a chess site. 3 years and counting, and v3 still isn't working correctly. At least be honest and admit this hasn't gone according to plan. locking and moving threads about the v3 train wreck isn't good business.
v3 is already for the knackers yard, and v4 on its way. Unfortunately, v4 will look like v3...

They may or may not be struggling, I think it's more a case of just not liking it.If they are anything like me, they enjoy other chess websites that dont take 39 videos to figure out how to use it. For me there are no better options than version 2, but there are a couple better other options than version 3.

you don't need 39 videos. i navigate it fine
great, you might be the one who can tell me then... who is the 1500th ranked player on the Blitz leaderboard?

I'm pretty sure the site had videos on how to do stuff on v2 also. It's not something new.

How many people need or want to do that? What really is the use case for that?
The load more option does make it hard to go through long lists, certainly, and there are places where pagination seems like it would work better but that seems like a weird use case to me.

i do, for instance, to see which players are rated, say, between 22-2300. I'm guessing you tried it, but failed or gave up...

I haven't tried it. I'm on my phone on the browser. I just don't see a lot of use cases for it. Sure, there are some, but for the majority of members, it just isn't something that gets done.
Make a sugestion to erik to make the list searchable or be able to filter it. That seems like it would be more useful than pagination even.

i've been making suggestions for months, you've seen most of them.
That was one example, an extreme one perhaps, of all the extra clicks and scrolls v3 requires over v2. In v2, once at the Blitz leaderboard, it takes 6 clicks and 1 scroll to find the last name on page 30 of the leaderboard.
In v3, you need to scroll to the bottom of the page, then click on more, and repeat that process a further 28 times. Each page you add on gets progressively slower. But wait, sometimes it doesn't allow the user to go past page 25, sometimes it's page 20. You can't even reach the 2200s before you find out you're as far as you can go.
And if you click through to one of the players you see on the list, then go back to the leaderboard, you will find you have lost your list of 20+ pages and are right back where you started on page 1.
What's the point of having a leaderboard if you can't look at it?

There is already a filter there for clubs you are part of and by country. A rating band could be a nice feature. Request it along with use cases. I can see club admins use it and certain specialty clubs. Heck, it could be a premium only feature even.
I agree, it sucks that it doesn't remember where it was. I accidentally clicked through when attempting it on my phone just now (made it to 900 or so).
I am 72 years old. I have been using chess.com for about 10 years. I have used v1, v2 and v3. Initially I hated v3 and for a good while I think I was justified. Two years past the initial announcement it was still a mess.
I don't recall exactly when it happened but one day I began to see that there were lots of links embedded in the interface which I had been unaware of and I started to explore. Turns out there is a lot more in v3 than in the two previous versions.
Today I feel the site has the correct balance between functionality, education and the need for it to be accompanied by social media.
Whereas I once felt the staff was unresponsive I now find them to be very helpful and open to suggestions, and I'm pleased to say some of the small things I have suggested have actually been incorporated into the interface. I believe them when they say they will continue to improve.
Never thought I would say it but, "Good Job chess.com !"
I think that the biggest flaw was that it's never been intuitive to a lot of people. Things exist but people don;t see them. When I joined FICS in 1997, one had to learn all the telnet commands and parameters to really get the most out of it. It was tedious but worth the effort. While a guide would be nice, exploring and discovering the less-than-obvious links and such on v3 is definitely worth the effort. Thanks for the positive input... negativity never accomplishes anything.
