Serious props to anyone who can conjure up photos of either GM Roman Dzindzihasvili or Vincent Livermore playing at Washington Square Park yo.

Here's a youtube of Vinnie at his craft (two parter).

The size of the clocks in the older photos always amuses me. I am not sure I like the modern day chess clocks better , though I do believe they are much more accurate. This is especially true of digital clocks which I think will soon replace all the older mechanical clocks.

Funny your posting that goldendog, was just getting ready to do something with them on The Chess Art thread.  I've looked long and hard but have not been able to come up with a photograph of Vinnie.

I think that with the advantage of a large display for the digital clocks we won't be getting too small in the future.

Remember the huge clock from Kasparov-Deep Blue?

All housing and no clock lol.

This is Fischer's scoresheet

Fischer never used any notation other than the descriptive notation. I wonder how much hell he would have raised when fide made algebraic mandatory had he continued playing ?

Scoresheets from Capblanca-Alekhine match, 1927.

Octogenarian Blackburne, also known as the Black Death, begins a simul in 1922.

Before there was Fischer-Larsen 6-0 and Fischer-Taimanov 6-0. there was Capablanca-Kostich 5-0. Kostich was a very good player but he saw the writing on the wall and resigned the match after 5 games and perhaps was able to enjoy other parts of Havana, other than being caught up in the cogs of "The Chess Machine."

As opposed to the old tumbling chess clocks, like this used in the Steinitz-Zukertort world championship match, 1886

An early example of Kasparov saying, "Yay for me!!"
