I didn't mean hardwork alone. What I meant was right kind of hardwork that includes everything time management/money management etc... To manage multiple things you need to be smart. Acting right on right time makes lot of difference.
let us discuss few things about rating here. How many of us know (Without taking google help ;) ) what are the rules and criteria to have FIDE rating. Let us assume you are new to chess and having no rating. You are attending FIDE rated tournament.
To have FIDE rating what must be done ?
How many games you need to play against players ?
Can you get rating winning against unrated playes ?
If you do manage to beat any FIDE rated player then how many FIDE rated players you need to beat ?
There are only so many different ways you can say that anyone who spends a large amount of time studying chess without making master is an idiot.
And yet, the vast majority of serious tournament players never break 2000, let alone 2200. Just call them all idiots and be done with it. Of course, you will be calling MBAs, lawyers, Ph.D's, engineers, doctors, and many others idiots in the process.
Prove that they are idiots. Become a master yourself.
