Help!! I am stuck at 1400 and abouts

I see a lot of players stuck at 1400 and near by. I have been devoting sometime to chess for past 2 years, but rating is still the same.

Things I have learned

-An understanding of why centre is good and why develop there, that all plans need not be about king attacks.

-Tactical puzzles of about 1500 (as present for free members 5 per day)

-Endgame study with basic king and pawn

-Involving all pieces in the attack

-Using the London System(for avoiding opening prep and for pattern recognition by using the same opening)

-Being a big Ben finegold fan and listen to his lectures :D

-Played around 1000 games in all forms

-Review and go through some of my games

I know I am not meticulous in my study, but am involved in it often. How do I improve now?

I assume you are talking about your live standard ratings, since that is what you play most often. Your ratings have not stayed stuck at 1400. For most of 2014, you were somewhere in the 1200's.  In the last couple of months of 2014, your rating shot up above 1500. Then it looks like you didn't play for 9 or 10 months, so when you came back your rating fell a bit.

I think you should keep doing what you are doing. Hopefully you will recover your 1500 rating soon.

The only thing I would change is to try to learn some other openings besides the London System. Staying with one opening may be easy but it is not very ambitious and you will need to learn something else if you hope to improve.

I will give you a secret.

Think positively at ALL times.  When you lose, learn specifically why you lost and promise to yourself never to make the error again.  When you win, find out what your opponent did wrong and how you could have won easier.

Finally, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, before every game, psychologically prepare yourself:  "I will make my opponent sweat."

But please...chess is all about ART and having fun.  Enjoy it and don't worry so much.

the 200 point rise was because of the ratings adjustment by chess.com.

I want to always have a plan while playing(which is not the case now), so have stuck with London system, to understand middlegame and endgame.

Thanks for the chart though, I can't access it, not a premium member

I do enjoy chess a lot. But want to understand it better, I want better ratings to reinforce that am understanding it better.

And you have 1900 blitz and bullet rating, wow !!

notmtwain@ also has an 1800 standard rating, I am sure you guys would have found yourself stuck at some point, just wanted to know what changed things.

I have already started to analyze games as u guys are suggesting. Hope that helps

Yes, I am guilty of timed out CC games. Earlier I used to play exclusively that. But after I started playing Live games, stopped playing that. I will focus more on games with long time control.

I remember in one such 3 day game, I looked at a position for quite a while , and then realized that King can be used as a fighting piece and eventually won the game.

More 45/45 and Online chess then :D. Thanks IM pfren

Above 1500, although still lots of blunders. Key is I should make less blunders than opponent.
