High Quality chess photos from past

wzrdfjts

Hello,

I am a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt, competitor and coach, also an avid chess fan.
Im currently opening new Jiu Jitsu Academy and in lounge I have a chess corner with table and couple of couches.

From this picture you can see my chess corner.null

Black wall next to chess table is where I want to place a framed chess picture. A3 size most likely. What  I am thinking is a picture of couple of grand masters from past playing a match. Ideally I would like it to have a picture of Paul Keres because I am from Estonia, but I could consider anyone else as well really, Tal is a very good candidate.

Ultimate would be picture of Keres vs Tal
nullBut the thing is I need to have a super high quality picture, large pixel size, very high resolution so that the picture would look still mint when enlarged to A3. Thats why I cant simply take a small picture from internet. Would anyone have an idea where I could find such quality pictures?

Regards,

Nice lounge Martin! Good luck in your teaching venture. I know for sure that you will probably have to buy a photo from a stock photo site.

This I can help with! Photos are kept under copyright, so for high quality prints you need to contact the copyright holder. Luckily most photographers use agencies, so try Getty Images. So for example search for Bobby Fischer and you will find hundreds of photos. Forewarned it can be pricey! For a much smaller selection, but more reasonably priced check out photos.com. It however is a much smaller selection...

If you want the truly cheap option you may be in luck. For A4 size you need roughly a 4 meg pic and Keres happens to be almost exclusively in black and white, which is very forgiving to work with. So find the largest pic you can on the net and ask graphics artist student to help you enlarge it, clean it up etc.

I was wondering why you choose to high-light your Jiu Jitsu skills in your thread that is clearly about quality chess photos. Then it dawned on me that you may NEED those skills depending on WHO post here. Also, if a mod tries to lock the thread you can put the ky-bash on them.happy.png

I believe this picture is in the public domain at high resolution (2802 x 3477 pixels):

But I'm not sure if that image is what you would like. If you would like the link to the full-size image then send me a DM.happy.png

Nothing wrong about letting us know he has another hobby besides chess. I wrote also about my cats in a post, and nobody said this was weird.
