Idk. Hikaru seems to act pretty weirdly with Twitch and all
Hikaru Nakamura: The Most Hated Player Of Current Time
I used to watch him on twitch a lot... It was all about chess, then he started chasing down XQC to gain viewers, and his real attitude started to show, as he was banning people left and right for nothing, just him being salty and in a bad mood. It actually drove me away before all the "drama"...

Nakamura cares more about his Twitch following than chess.
Yep exactly. Hikaru doesn't care about "growing the game." He just wants to grow his number of subscribers.

With style or not -how mighty they fall. Naka’s run of a couple of years, being one of the 1st will be remembered for sometime. The hype wears off. Longevity comes with originality. Copy-cat streamers all basically doing the same thing. It’s getting old rapidly.
Who will be the next innovator?
Granted- most all streams cater to the very young set. The novelty will wear off. COVID has sent numbers sky- high. This will all end. New chess entertainment will be looked for.

Just trying to really understand the hate. Yes the guy has been a sore loser before and a jerk but he seems to have changed.
Why do people still attack him so aggressively every time? Especially when other players have exihbited these same offences without getting a third of the hate.
Seems very unfair.
It's much more than rage quitting and throwing tantrums. The recent strikes against Chessbrah is one example of disgusting behaviour by him.

Naka was the bad boy of chess in his youth. His adult tantrums don’t hold near the attraction. Original subscribers a few years older are looking more for content than his constant discourse.’

He is the most loved player of current time. He completely exploded on YouTube and twitch. Moreover, he seems to be loved by the young community !
Its easy to be loved by those people if he is first person that they encounter in new environment seeing only his side in everything without checking his past and actually fact checking everything that he say.
Well, maybe his present is what's really important? I've never seen anything good come out of hunting for someone's past misdeeds, provided they remain in the past and the past only.
It's completely understandable - nay, expected! - to apprehend someone about a present mistake, whether that someone made the same mistake in the past or not; but if they stop making said mistake, why send them to the gallows of Twitter cancellation and then some and whatnot? Because they supposedly committed some sort of unforgivable sin? Gimme a break.

No

What, Hikaru wants more subscribers?
How rude of him to try and make a living.
he was number 2 in the world, not exactly crying buckets for his livelyhood

my (relatively minor) dislike of Naka is that he has this opportunistic American hussle mentality when someone of his standing really doesnt need to be that way, combined with smug childish jerk tendencies.
Still like him more than Giri though. Ugh what a bore!
