There is nobody playing chess currently that has shown that he can truly rival Magnus Carlsen. It would take a once-in-a-generation talent, like Kasparov or Fischer, to fill that role, and we already have one such talent - Magnus Carlsen.

Harry POtter!! LOL! Fabiano is a pretty good chess player. But i don´t know really... is a different player with the black pieces. Just look the classical game in zurich...

I don't get it. How can someone be so much worse with black? The guy would #2 in the world with like 2850 if he played black as good as he did with white.
What about Karjakin. He has amazing streak. Not to mention which though.
Richard Rapport would be a real rival in the years to come, right now he's still a teen (Just turned 18 last month), but he's a very strong player he's 2701....

If only he was more consistent at the end of tournaments to secure the whole thing. I strongly believe he should have beaten magnus at Norway.
Other than fabiano is say karjakin has a very good chance as well

Depends on how much time you would give for the players to prepare themselves mentally and chessically for Carlsen's title. Given enough time, Wesley So could be a good rival.
i dont see anyone else, not hikaru, not karjakin that can compete with carlsen besides this guy
