Rating 90 maybe ? ( I donot know)
How bad can you be at chess?

In due respect to the original posters question, I would ask when did you first start playing chess, and how did you learn. If you are a real newcomer to the game I would not even worry about my rating, the ratings are really not ment for one just learning the game, and may actually discourage a new potential chess player for life.
For a new person just learning the game, instead of getting into detailed strategy & tactics, learn to develop your pieces "fast", (that is a different piece each time), in your opening moves, targeting the center squares, try not to move a piece twice in the opening, keep bringing more pieces from there starting position into battle, and try to castle early, get those powerfull rooks into play. And never bring your queen early out in the opening because your opponent can bring new pieces out while chasing your queen around, you do that to your opponent. King or Queen pawns are a good choice for center of the board control, protect them with other pawns and your knights and Bishops. I used to play alot of games against myself, just to see how long it would take me to get a checkmate.
Last point, if you are having fun playing this marvellous game, then you are hooked for life as I am, and as I type this you will improve!!!!!!!!!! Bob USFC Life Member

I started playing about five years ago. One of my friends taught me how.
I believe there was a player on here who was rated 0.
I believe you are referring to the great timmaylivinalie who is to chess as Andy Kaufman was to Elvis impersonators.

Why on earth did white resign?
really bad.
see here.
You had a 1300 level opponent, losing a rook is not a lost game. That was a bad resignation.

I resign games where I'm not going to learn anything/be challenged as I don't care about my online rating. Not realizing he had a goal of 0 rating points, I ended up delaying him from his goal by like 200 games and well you can guess how pissed off he was.

It DID appear he lost all the time on purpose.
Can't you get the longer games you want by entering club tournaments, leagues, teams etc.? A lot of people only play longer games with some sort of purpose beyond the game.
Yes I could but the time I can dedicate to chess is rather unpredictable (young children, long hours etc), so it's hard for me to plan ahead enough to enter tournaments etc. This puts me at the mercy of the walk-in crowd
