You just erred, that's all - THERE'S your humanity!
Just remember, if you start playing prison chess, dropping pawns can have more serious consequences than usual. And always, always guard your back rank, or you will end up being mated by a large, angry queen.
I would imagine that you could kill somebody and then have the rest of your life to play chess with inmates...
Felonies would be a sound stratagem.

this thread woulda been way better if you guys had told stories about your time in prison. what a drag.
cptn. Eo___ wins again.
The circumstances revolving around the prisoners at Guantanamo bay would have to be evaluated on a case by case basis. America as a Christian nation is another generalization that doesn't have much to do with anything. Calling on the humanity of America is another. That's why arguments like these can't get far in forum format because one side generalizes what's convenient for their point of view while the other side does the same. To do otherwise means setting out to write a book. Otherwise the best response is none at all.
Unless of course you want to plug your personal point of view or advertise your religious or political affiliation, which when you remove the fluff I think is what most of these posts boil down to. In my case, I find both boring and not much worth reading.
I tend to avoid forum discussion on religious or political grounds for the reasons that you rightfully state, especially on a Chess discussion, so I won't go into it further. Thanks for your in-depth response though.

That happens in California all the time. A convicted child rapist WEARING A GPS TRACKER violated his parole 151 times and did not get sent back to prison...During an 18 month span WHILE STILL WEARING THE TRACKER he raped and killed two different teenage girls, and tried to attack a third in the San Diego area. Had parole and local law enforcement been doing their job he would have been in jail instead and two of those victims would still be alive.
It's always that way in California for violent offenders...lesser offenders like Lindsey Lohan and Paris Hilton spend time in jail for a dui while murderers walk. "
Very good point.
Why do you not send this to Governor Arnold Schwazenegger?
At:
No governor is aware of everything under the sun in his state and he will I believe react to your submission and even posibly reply to it.
I agree that that murderer should not have walked out of a jail cell, but I have also heard plenty of times, of whole families being wiped out on the highway by drunk drivers who never went to jail for dui's.
Hi. I'm the "con man and violent thugs" guy. I also served on a jury. I was foreman. I used to live near a maximum security prison, and maybe that has caused me to become jaded toward murderers and rapists. After all, they're all innocent. Just ask them. But that's not why I'm here. Why can't inmates play chess against each other? Presumably they already know how to play or you wouldn't be going there to play them. Are you going to teach them? 80% of inmates have drug and alcohol problems, 50% are illiterate and about the same percentage has suffered child sexual abuse. As was mentioned earlier, prisons have also become warehouses for people with mental illnesses. Is the fact that you are so magnanamous as to come to prison and play a game of chess with them going to turn their lives around? Are you making some kind of commitment to them, or are you going to make yourself feel good? You might want to try inmates in the wing that houses child sex criminals. If they were housed in the general population, they would be killed in short order. But they're very neat and keep their cells in a much better condition than the general population. I'm stupid and maleable as a result of my jury service, so I'll just wait quietly for you to respond so I can agree with you.
