How do you even lose 700 rating with one puzzle?

I got a puzzle wrong, as as a consequence, lost 700 rating points (2670 -> 1950)

I haven't been here in a few months, but 700 is way over par... (Recovery is starting slowly, sniff...)

Please do fix this.

You did not lose the rating by doing a puzzle wrong. Chess.com recently reevaulated puzzle ratings for everyone.

It was a change in rating, not a drop because of one puzzle.

Phew, but 700 is a huge price to pay, what was the re-evaluation?

That article has a lot of words, but those words actually say nothing. I wouldn't claim that it was definitely written by AI, but it certainly feels like it was.

It explains the changes pretty well and as far as I'm aware was written by staff.

This clip from the September State of Chess.com broadcast also discusses the changes and has more detail

The ratings just became more realistic. I mean come on, do u really think u were 2700ish level tactically?? Really?
