The old Russian hole in the ice trick

Well I'm not going to be so stupid as to fall for that even ithough you're wearing women's clothes.

Oh no.

They are standard issue for the Intelligence Services and take nobody but university graduates in.

It is still a tactic chrisr, actions whether direct or indirect are tactics.  All actions implemented are parts of a strategy. A strategy is the guide to all of these actions. It is safe to conclude that they are all part of a strategy. A strategy is the mother of all actions geared toward attaining the expected results you have set to your desired objective.  But in such cases when one has only one action program for the duration of such endeavor, then it must be the strategy itself.

Using the analogy of a tree, strategy is the limbs and branches and tactics are the leaves. All tactics are strategies, but not all strategies are tactics.

All ants are insects, but not all insects are ants.

Your strategy should always be to use good tactics...

Genius. very Sun Tzu/Turing/Wittgenstein. Superb.

I wonder about moving too soon. in a chess battle is seems to me you often are unable to set up a great position. Do you move too soon, unsupported or constantly rework your position? And at what point do you gamble?

No, but I occasionally have a banana there. When it happens I'm always hoping to meet Eddie Murphy-hasn't happened yet.

hleuk2, I too am an avid fan of Zun Tsu.  His principles in the art of war really make sense. I often use these principles in marketing where stiff competition in a mature industry is in a cutthroat situation.  It works when you apply it and execute it well. Calculated risks is very important but it all starts with a plan. I like his idea that when you enter into a war even before it start, make sure you already won the battle. Playing in chess.com is different, you don't know who your opponent would be. Each opponent has different style. Win or lose, the thrill is always there. It can also help fight dementia.

hleuk2

"If you look for the perfect hole you will be a gonner...ask my penguin"

'What penguin?'

"Yes I know, and you should also visit your eye surgeon. I can tell you my good man 'there is a penguin on my shoulder' even as we are speaking ''

"About the hole?"

"What?"

"The hole?"

"What about it?"

"We are speakking about the hole?"

"Yes I know that..."

"Tell me about the holes..."

"Yes. Life is full of holes. and there are holes even in the nose"

"Is this good?"

"That question has never been solved not even by Andy Cifton. You must now tell me about Strategy in a tit for tat exchange."

hleuk2

the British have been chosen to host the olympics and despite losing the biggest empire in the world, have no identity crisis and no chess champions.

hleuk2
