Sort:
You have to get an official chess rating by playing around 24 irl tournaments chess games, and you have to get a rating that gives you a title, there’s probably more steps

get a licence and join official tournaments, you'll get your elo first.. after 2k you can be cm if im not mistaken, 2.2k = fm, 2.4k = im, 2.6k wait wasnt it 2500.. well idk 
anyway
but you' ll need "norms" for fm and above..

CM is 2200
FM is 2300
IM is 2400 plus 3 IM norms
GM is 2500 plus 3 GM norms

correct. i was sure gm is 2500 
plus, in some tournaments and specials events you might get a cm without meeting real reqs.
