It depends on how much "improvement" we are hoping to see, but even "club level" chess can require many years of hard work on your chess game to reach. One year is a good start, but don't get discouraged now. Chess learning takes time.

If you mean smaller improvement such as passing a particular rating goal (like 1000 chess.com rating or something), then how long depends on how easily reachable that goal is.

Feel free to message me on chess.com if you just want a friend on here and some guidance on what to do. We could even play some unrated live chess together sometime for a learning experience if you want a bit more tailored advice than just "opening principles", "don't hang pieces" and the other super generic (and only useful in a limited way) advice.

Best of luck with your chess journey happy.png

A rating of 844 is a sign of frequent blunders.
The game @2 only confirms that.
Always check your intended move is no blunder before you play it.
Think about your move. Then imagine it played on the board. Then verify it is no blunder. Only then play it.
It is a little mental discipline.
That alone is enough to get to 1500.

Bro, simple advice, watch speedruns on YouTube.

These will help you learn how to think in certain positions and they will show the basic traps in certain openings etc

That's what I have been doing and as a 1500 currently, I just beat a 1700 and I didn't think alot ( which is kinda my weaknesses) but I just understood the position better than my opponent.

So, I recommend GM Daniel Naroditsky's new speedruns believe me you will just absorb the knowledge.

PS, some chess speedrun newbies make some mistake that hinder there growth, so avoid these.

Since I have been on a rant, I will summarize.

Take notes, go through your notes before and after a game, put stats on point emphasized by the GM, adopt his openings in the speedrun etc you will figure out the rest on your own.

This will take you about 5 minutes before and after your LONG game (at least 15+10) even 1 a day will do wonders
