How to find groups that want members?

I got an invite to a group and I joined. Is there a way to join groups without waiting for an invite?

Martin_Stahl

Yes. Just go to the groups page and find groups that might interest you. Some may be invite only and some may be only open to certain people (for example, by location, or part of a real-life group).

Thanks. I joined the Dan Heisman one. There are a lot of choose from.

The good news is I charge $1.50 an hour.

The bad news is I bundle my plans, so you'll have to pay for 2 years worth of lessons before we start. 1 hour a week, so about 150 USD.

And I wont ask because I already know

are you really 10?

Your highest blitz was 2100 and you're 1900 now. Wouldn't surprise me if you're better than me, and even if not, you'd want at least a titled player as a coach.

No, he's not 10 tongue.png

If you're an adult and in my area, it would be fun to work together... not so much as coach/student, but training exercises and analysis.

It's flattering you want me as a coach, but I don't have coaching experience and I'm not 400 points stronger than you, so I don't think it would be beneficial to you.

The Ultimate Training Center group welcomed my unsolicited approach for membership. They are a serious, unfrivolous group with both matches (which I haven't joined) and Vote Chess games with other groups (which I have). The VC games have some interesting analysis by some strong players and I'm sure you would be welcomed over there. Note that I am still new to the group, so I'm not speaking as an administrator or even someone who knows the group well yet, but my impression of it so far is positive. Given your evident strength as a player and engagement in the forums, I'm sure you'd be welcomed there if you approached them.

Thanks Karpark! Now I don't have to spend 15 minutes figuring out what to put into that post.

But we are looking for more active members, as we're also running an opening database right now and an annotation event maybe in October. The annotation event is getting lots of support, the database isn't really. DMGame, who some of you may remember from "Improvement forum", is running another thread like that in the group. This time the focus is calculation.
