How To Get More Women Into Chess

what would cause more women to play chess is more women choosing to play chess.
and how do you suggest we get more women choosing to play chess?

Treat men and women as equals. Don't condescend to women by providing flowers or "dance" themed events. Try to avoid the subtle (or not so subtle!) messages sent to young girls and boys that push boys in one direction and girls in another.
That's all.
I second that.
All the preconceived ideas and stereotypes need to be chucked into the trash can. If the majority of women aren't interested in chess, why should it matter. For the few of those who are...and who are among the boys here - how about just being civilized and respectful toward them without the sexist condescension ?-- to start.

Offer free beauty care products.
In the 1937 women's National Chess Federation championship tournament at the Marshall Club, first place, won by Adele Rivero, received a gold medal donated by Mr. H. M. Hartshorne. The second place prize, awarded to Mary Bain, was a beauty kit donated by Mr. C. A. Pfeiffer.

So kunfuelephant, any ideas about how to get more females to play in OTB tournaments?
or just play her on chess.com since she has compleated two matches since feb 2013

2. I'm going to take your second and fourth suggestions together, because they're basically two sides of the same coin. Women don't go to chess tournaments to be ogled, or to show off how attractive they are.
I've been to several chess tournaments, and this is completely false. The women there are dressing to impress.
.....to impress AND/OR deviate the opponent attention???
