I cant quit chess until my finance improves. Chess is very fun and free! Free membership, plenty of free software and apps 😁
I am quitting chess.

The first time I quit, I sold a bunch of books I wish I had back now.
Selling chess books? Sounds like you were really serious about quitting at the time. Had chess been destroying your life? Was it like you had a "Karpov on your back?" Or was it more like a "Steinitz?"

It was my first big move cross country: Boston to Los Angeles. I wasn't planning on lugging all these books along, so I tried to sell them. There was a hardback 3-volume series of books on Tal's games I wish I never let go of. Though, I suppose I could go to chessgames.com and just put in Tal and get all his games anyhow.

pleeeeez, just quit chess and moooooooooove on.
My, my ... I confess to finding myself a bit diasappointed and saddened and frankly, confused, to see such an obvious expert urging anyone to give up the game.
What harm are we doing, we amateurs? I swear to you: no animals have ever been harmed in any game I've ever played! ... well, ok, once, I did push my cat gently off the keyboard onto the floor, but she landed on her feet, and she seems fine now.

Would it help to hear it from a barely average player, too?
QUIT, OP. QUIT AND RUN. AND NEVER LOOK BACK.

Progressing in chess is like a series of plateaus. It may not seem like you're improving for a while, but keep at it and you just JUMP to a higher level. Rinse and repeat. The flat periods are longer as you strive to improve but just keep at it.
I need to score me a couple pawns! I need 'em bad!!!
