idk if anyone has mentioned this, but shouldn't the title of this topic be "I find 'quick win' gambits disgusting" instead of "I find 'win quick' gambits disgusting"

it seems grammatically correct both ways but 'quick win' sounds more pleasing to the ears

Finally, a sensible post.

LMAO it is true but LMAO

Darn, I thought it was me who made the first sensible post.

Just my two cents: if you do a proper gambit, not a cheap one like the Blackburne garbage which is advantageous to white after Nxd4 (don't take the pawn kids), then it's fine to play. I like the Smith-Morra (before anyone goes and tells me that it is utter trash and unsound and garbage it ain't, white has good compensation, more space, pieces are more active, larger center and lots of tactical play) and other gambits like the French Wing Gambit or Mengarini Sicilian which is in here somehwere from oliver prescott. No one has to play passively/positionally/strategically instead of aggressively/tactically just because someone thinks gambits are trash

Another advantage to gambits are that they take theorists out of book, unless you run into that one theorist who decides to be a know-it-all and studied every single possible move until move 20.

Blackburne is garbage, but the Smith-Morra is unsound. To you, it might not seem like its unsound, but at high end Computer Chess and World Class, its actually kind of bad. However, if ur under 2300 OTB, its decent enough to play. If ur under 1500 OTB, it might be worth taking a small look at. However, I am a fan of simply shutting down the Sicilian rather than trying to beat it at its own game.

I don't agree with this "good enough for the likes of you" attitude. If it's bad at the top level, it's bad all the way down.

That's tru, but ppl don't know how to play as well. They can't counter it.

The object of Chess isn't to win, it's to play the best moves.

Avatar of PILOTOXOMXD

No, its to have fun

Avatar of Richard_Hunter

Yes, and you have fun by playing the best moves.

Avatar of chamo2074

The reason why it's bad at top level is because opponents can refute it... If you can't refute it and you say that your opponent shouldn't play it it means that you are over rated and you should be dropping

If you win because your opponent has a mouse-slip, is that fun?

Avatar of chamo2074

This is another story, the title of the subject is quick win gambits

Avatar of chamo2074

See with a few post I could do what all of you guys could not do in 40 pages

I find the Latvian Gambit very interesting when I've got the black pieces.
