Idiot

Hi,

So I am an idiot. I've played like 30 games this week and I keep loosing to anyone. I'm 240 right now xD. HOW THE HELL GET BETTER? I don't have a slighest idea what should I do in my games. Yes, I make stupid decisions, but if I don't, I usually find myself in a position where me and my opponent are blocked and I can't come up with any idea. Started thinking that I'm just dumb and shouldn't play at all. What should I do? I'm obviously super-frustrated right now. I just don't think that simply playing is going to make me better. I'm stuck and I haven't even started playing for real. Feels like anyone can kick my ass right now. Help

Well mabye you could practice your puzzles and search up “how to get better at chess tips” and it might help u

I took a look at some of your games. Sometimes you capture in the wrong order or fail to calculate to the end when capturing and finally lose a piece. Do tactics and puzzles to practice this. Be patient. Your basic understanding is already there.

"I just don't think that simply playing is going to make me better." ++ No, it is analysis of your lost games that make you better.

you learn best from your own mistakes. like tygxc said. there's also obviously not just a magic wand. but a little bit of time doing lessons and review goes a long way

Ok, I'll try some learning. And puzzles. I just think that people that currently keep beating me up don't have to do this to destroy people like me. I'm just afraid that losing in noob league is a result of my intellectual inabilities. And it frustrates me.

goshdarnith

i checked your last one, you need to learn opening principles, and the purpose of openings

The first thing beginners should do is to learn the value of pieces. Trading a knight for a rook is better than vice versa, here are the values for your reference.

Queen - 9

Rook - 5

Knight - 3

Bishop - 3

Pawn - 1

You thing that 250-300 players who keep beating me up know openings? Because I'm just worried that they are just smarter and that's it. Thats my biggest fear - that I will find out that I am stupid by playing chess haha.
OK I'll try openings but it seems like there are tons of them. Need to find some system how to learn them or something.
I know value of pieces - I just usually don't see that I'm making that particular exchange, I just blunder

I looked at your last match. Go through each move and work out which moves were mistakes and understand why. I'll start you off:

Move 3 was a mistake: why?

Move 7 was ok but it starts a line which is complicated for your level.

Move 8 started a succession of mistakes: Why were each of these mistakes?

Move 11 was a critical mistake. why does it make it so difficult to recover? What move should you played instead?

When you can answer these questions you've made a very important first step to becoming a better player.

Opening principles are not the same as learning openings. Both are different. Openings follow opening principles, so if you just learn the opening principles you won't have to learn openings until you are 400-500 rated.
