I grew up in the '60s and '70s so I like all those bands (Floyd, Who, Zep, Doobies, Beatles, Stones,...). Since then I've branched out several times in several different directions. This is representative of what I've been listening to lately: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1W7KkvtsGMY

And as a wannabe guitarist I eat my heart out every time I hear this man. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYzajpeAWuA

Nothing wrong with classical music, I have lots of it, Bach, Beethoven, Thaikovsky, Vivaldi etc.

Classical is good, but rock is better.

Classical should be the chocolate milk, rock is the regular. The harmonic vocabulary, structure, instrumentation its so plain and boring.

Gomer_Pyle

There's only so many times I can hear a song, or even an album, before it gets old. Even entire genres can get predictable after a while. That's why I wander around the musical spectrum. I drive people nuts when I put Black Sabbath and Vivaldi on shuffle.

Rock was the consensus until classical was mentioned, forcing rock to be chocolate milk to satisfy my brilliant analogy.

Hahahahah Black Sabbath and Vivaldi... what a mix!

As Jack Black said,

There's no such thing as a rock prodigy,
'cause rock and roll is bogus, right K.G.? (Right!)
The only thing that matters is a classical sauce.

I was curious to see the most boring thread to contain 800+ postings!!!

Then I found it has metamorphosed into a more healthy music cafe!?!

Carry on guys!

thank you borgqueen, sorry before that i abandon our game, the reason is i know already that im gonna lose the game thats why i quit.my first question again is ''what is the right to say''? because you ask me if i said ''important'' or strategically important?.my second question is you said that it depends of my strategy if im gonna castle right away or not,so can you give me an example of strategy im gonna make? and can you give me an opening that needs to castle right away?.my 3rd question is what im gonna study first so that it will improve my game?,i mean playing chess?.i wait again to your response borgqueen.

thank you borgqueen,i learn something with you again.so im gonna go to library to barrow some chess book for basic openings.i have another question to you borgqueen,if im gonna study the basic openings in chess how many moves i have to master before i stop? i mean for example i got the white pieces and my first move is e4 and my opponent is e5 and 2nd move is nf3 nf6 and so on......,so how many moves before i stop?.i wait again to your response.

Gomer_Pyle

kurogkug, a good way to study openings is to choose one opening for white and always play it until you know many of its lines well. Choose two openings for black, one in response to 1.d4 and one for 1.e4. One or the other should also work well enough against other white openings. This way you only have to study three openings. Studying many openings at once can be confusing as you try remember which moves belong to which opening.
