You can also post your pieces here to have them judged and to play a game with them. I can create the boards.
I have some ideas…
*Shielder, a piece that moves like a King, but can protect up to 1 piece that is touching it (excluding the King). A piece that is protected can’t be captured. The Shielder can’t capture enemy pieces.
When it can protect more than one piece, the player may select the piece that will be protected. He can’t undo his choice unless he moves the protected piece out of range of the Shielder or vice versa.
Value: 2.5 (It can protect pieces, but can’t capture enemy pieces; also can be captured like any normal piece).
How many per player: 1 (otherwise, the players can just make a fortress in front of their Kings, making it unattackable).
Here are my pieces. However they seem little to complex and to strong. I want to make them fun to play and as strong as queen but they seem stronger. I want player player to be able to use one of these pieces instead of queen. All pieces would be same. May also someone help me balance them?
Phoenix
Moves/captures like a knight.
At the beggining off every turn(both whites and blacks) this piece sets squares that are 2 squares forward and 2 diagonally forward on fire.
If any opponents piece was caught in fire, all orthogonal squares of the piece are burned for 3 turns, trapping pieces that are orthogonally-next.
Opponent's pieces cant go past burned squares(but knight can still jump over) while when friendly pieces get to these squares, player makes another move(cant use this ability more than once per turn. player doesnt get
extra move if the move was check).
Enchanter:
Moves like a rook(cannot capture).
At the beggining of a game (or when it is promoted) it gives enchantment of level 1 to 2 pieces.
When enchanter is destroyed pieces lose enchantmentents.
Here are the enchantments:
enchantment path 1:when claw gets to any opponent's piece the piece gets destroyed and clutch stops
Piece level-ups when it eats a piece.
1.at the start of this player's turn this piece releases an claw going one square forward
2.at the start of this player's turn this piece releases an claw going one square forward and then one square rigt-forward
3. at the start of this player's turn this piece releases an claw going, forward,right-forward and backwards-right
enchantment path 2:Protecting bubble: goes at speed of 1 square per turn. If it encounters friendly piece the piece cannot be eaten next turn. If it encounters opponent's piece it gets destroyed
When protecting bubble encounters 3 different friendly pieces that havent got bubble before(by this piece) this piece levels up.Protecting bubble cant be applied to the same piece 2 turns in a row.
level 1: at the beggining of every turn this piece releases a protecting bubble going forward
level 2: at the beggining of every turn this piece releases and 2 protecting bubbles going diagonally forward
level 3: at the beggining of every turn this piece releases a protecting bubble going forward and 2 going diagonally forward
The apple=moves through other pieces and captures them, can also shoot leaves like a queen attacks which captures piece that hits.
same moves as a queen. can't capture, but can occupy the same square as another piece, rendering it immobile.
The Reaper.
This is a handicap piece awarded to the player with the lowest ELO. It is invisible. Its location is memorized by its owner. The owner may mentally move it at the start of every turn, but it cannot capture pieces. When the owner is in danger of checkmate this piece initiates its final move which incidentally causes a physical chess board to be upended. The looser with the higher ELO has to clean it up and make dinner.
Note: In digital space, all system bits are converted to 0.
Percheron. Superknight that can take out any piece within its L-shaped path not just one.
Reason: I love big powerful draft horses and a chess piece based on one would be dope
A dragon it can move anywhere it wants but it can't take any pieces and it can also promote into a king but if you do so the queen will be knocked off the chessboard and comes back as a Knigth the drago can only move to protect the king from a checkmate
Moves like a pawn except it can also capture if another pawn pushes past it (like an en passant except it can do this any time a pawn pushes past it). When it’s destroyed, it resurrects up to three destroyed regular pawns that can be placed anywhere on the second rank as long as the squares are open. If not enough squares are open then it can appear in a spot that an opponents piece occupies, destroying it.
The Spider
Moves like the King. A web is placed directly in front of it at all times. If an enemy piece gets caught in it, that piece cannot move for three turns.
The Wolf
Can move up to three squares at a time in any direction. If it is being captured, and there are no pieces in between it and one of the two sides of the board (the closest one), AND if there are no pieces between the attacking piece and the side of the board, it flanks and counterattacks the piece, destroying it.
The Samurai
Moves like a pawn except it attacks the three squares ahead of it at the same time (front and two diagonals). It can destroy up to three enemy pieces in one move. However, after it attacks once (whether it captures one piece, two, or three), it kills itself and is removed from the board.
