Improving my game via the internet

Hi everyone!

I played chess competitively for about seven years, however after having a five year break I find myself getting beaten by Dream Chess more times than not.

I'm looking to improve all aspects of my game my game, however I've been in hospital for a bit over 4.5 months and am still and will be for some time still. I'm therefore unable to go to a book store or library and buy/borrow any books.

I know I probably seem unwilling to pay for a book, but are there any internet sites which have free and comprehensive tutorials and strategies?

Thank you in advance.

Doug.

http://www.chesstactics.org/ does what it says - tactics.

http://chess.emrald.net/ This is similar to the Tactics Trainer here on chess.com but is free and (I think) bigger.

A plug for my local chess club: http://www.exeterchessclub.org.uk/

They have a heap of training materials in there somewhere.

Has the Live Chess feature been fixed yet? If so, is there a link to it? Last time I tried it I could only get a game against a computer (I acn do that without the internet) and it just stopped moving after a few moves every game.
