Increment or delay?

My analogue chess clock is still in perfect working order but I´ve now taken the step into the digital era and now have a clock that offers increment/bonus mode as well as delay mode. Which one is preferrable?

I’m old school and still use an analogue chess clock, haven’t given any thought about digital. I’m sure that there is a huge difference and joy to getting away from wind up over a nice digital display. I have had my chess clock drop and to my surprise it still ticks, If the digital clock happens to fall do to hyped rug-rats in the house this could be very bad for digital. I like the idea of Increment and bonus things, good thing for me to look into. So I guess the discussion is based on the home environment and having a safe place for electronic chess gear. I for one panic when anyone is in the area of my DGT Board.

I like delay better but they are both okay I guess, I play more USCF then FIDE tournaments so I am more used to delay over increments

Personally, I prefer increment.

I like increment better.

The reason is that when ur in a serious tournament game & time is very low, it's running out very soon, an increment tells EXACTLY how many seconds u have whereas a delay causes a bit of uneasiness about the time. With an increment u can add a little time, with a delay u can't.
