Infinite analysis

Why or why is infinite analysis called so? What is infinite about it. Does it mean that the computer keeps searching for the best move infinitely?

Exactly.  Though practically the computer wouldn't change its choice after a week or so.

Yet the principal variation (first line) will get longer and longer and may change (not on first move though)
