The ChessBase article ( http://chessbase.com/newsdetail.asp?newsid=6265 ) implies that Anand is stranded in Frankfurt. If Anand were scared, he would have asked for a postponement without leaving the comfort of his home.
I don't think so..they were some personal matters why anand wants to postpone the game...I think both of them are ready.. of course we have to care about what is happening now in iceland..Lets pray no one will be harm..

It has to do wiith the volcano eruption in Iceland and a cloud of volcanic ash that hase caused many airports to be closed, and all in Germany were closed. He and his team are having a hard time getting to Sofia as planned due to this..... check out www.chessbase.com

Anand used majic to cause a volcanic eruption in Iceland so he could duck the match for a few days while enjoying the comforts of the Frankfurt Airport.

Ridiculous question.
Polls conducted all over the chess world tells that people believe that he will win against topalov.
there is no way he is scared. Else he would have chosen India as the venue for WC match.
he is in the same situation as you were in your childhood when it was raining heavily while you were going to school and hence you got there late.

It says they can't postpone the opening ceremony and that they will discuss the possibility of postponing the match. Hopefully, they will do the right thing. If they do, I hope Anand wins. If the organizers don't, I hope Anand crushes Topalov like a bug.

Who does the Omen favour anand or topalov! Please gaze carefully into your crystal ball.
Some comments about this whole issue are ridiculous. Being stranded due to volcano is an act of nature and if rules need to be modified becuase of that, then so be it. Tournament rules are not above laws of nature. At the very least, Anand had an extremely legitimate reason to ask for postponement. For people to read anything into it such as his being afraid or whatever is stupidity. It doesn't matter whether he wins or loses.He has been a WC for years and nothing is changing that fact. Why can't we take facts for their face value instead of taking cheap shots at them?

You cant expect Anand to play a gruelling game (worth 3 million $.. is that right?) just after arrival and that too with a jet lag.

The other day I heard somebody complaining about having a jetlag from flying from South-Africa to the Netherlands... :S

I was talking about Jet lag from wherever he flew from to Frankfurt. I had 5 days for flying Munich to Atlanta.

I agree that any inference that he is ducking the match is sensational, however I think the FIDE site says it well when they point out that the European Champions League has not postponed any of its games due to the volcano.
