Is poker a sport? Why is poker on ESPN
Anything u can bet on is a sport... so chess is a sport

I have a new rule of thumb that could be helpful: If you can do it on the internet, it isn't a sport.
So, chess and poker aren't sports. Sound fair?

OMG ... forbidden word used... at least call him a sporting wanker ffs!

The truth often hurts but the fact is there are a great many repressed little creeps posting on this forum, probably because they're chess players and facebook would ban them if they used the same tactics there.

Hmmm, I could do stuff like that in my early 20s. I could play football for three hours when I was 45 but when I was 48 I could only manage half an hour. The problem is joints, tendons and the effects of over-excercise when I was young. Having said that, I still do weight training.

I very occasionally dream of playing football. Sometimes in my dreams I can still run flat out, bodyswerve, turn on a sixpence and make a twenty yard pass within a foot of the target. Most people, even most professional footballers, could never do a real bodyswerve at full speed, because they lack athletic poise. It takes perfect control and balance. At least I have my memories! :)
