Lots of things are "illegal".  All that matters is enforcement, and there is little to none on the Equal Pay Act of 1963.  It's also illegal to defraud customers about products you sell, yet 100s of millions of people every day watch commercials with hamburgers coated in varnish and made with raw uncooked meat seared for 2 seconds, to appear larger.  Why?  No enforcement.

Weak opinion piece written without any statistics or facts to back it up. The author merely announces that a gender pay gap doesn't exist, lists some of the reasons why women get paid less and finishes with "Ladies, go out and make it happen!" platitude.

Bro what do people mean by girls can't go against guysin chess. There are many women that who are way smarter than most men, just because not a lot women are in the chess industry that doesn't mean that women arent as capable. Overall, i dont think its right to make two different titles for women gm and men gm.

Simply put, statistically, women have less involvement in the chess community. There are less women who play chess competitively (and casually), and less women who are as high rated as men. The 2300 required for WGM is to help women reach the title easier, and like chaotikitat said, it helps create more interest in the game for women. Finally, no one has brought to light the point that women can also compete for the GM title, at 2500.
