Chess is too sophisticated to have been conceived and developed by the primitive peoples of its time. Of course, the notion that aliens brought the game of chess to humanity is absurd. More likely, Chess was the gift of time-traveling humans.

Probably not! I don't think they ever realized what they even created. They were simply creating a replica of the world they knew: Two armies at war, where each member plays a different role and the sole purpose is to defeat the ruler of the other army.
