Is it a disaster if Anand wins the candidates tournament?

Before the candidates I did not want to see a rematch, but only because Anand seemed washed up. But he is basically running away with the candidates tournament. Carlsen didn't run away with the candidates tournament last year. Anand may lose to Carlsen again, but at least now the possibility that the WC match will be interesting exists, and that's all I really want.

Yes, Its a disaster because its Anand fault that he wont the first game with  star candidate Aronian and in second head to head fight wth Aronian, Aronian got bored after 19th move and offered draw to him. It was Anand's fault that he had beaten  Mamedyarov purly a technical game and later Mamedarov had beaten Aronian. It's Anand's fault that he had beaten Tapalove and he is the culprit that he was submissive to Anand but had beaten another favored candidate Kramanik. It’s a huge fault of Anand that he is still unbeaten after 9th round. Guess he should resign  from here and go back to Madras  because peopl here on chess.com dont like him and he is not an advertisement material for the international chess..lol

I am amazed that he has come back from the loss to Carlsen playing so strongly.

Props to Anand.  If he was a footballer I would certainly want him playing for Spurs.

anand does a great job at the candidates, and a rematch against carlsen at the wc would be mega-exciting... and surely more than against aronian & co

The problem with genius is it gets lazy after a while. I should know.

Not a disaster but a sad reminder that nobody else brought something more to the table to earn the right to challenge Carlsen.

Unbelievable the hatred Anand gets from Patzers most of whom have started watching chess in the last 2-3 years when Vishy has played the worst chess of his career now he is prowling back some fools are up in arms..Do yourself a favour and watch Chess.com videos

as of now Anand is in the best shape and will be of better shape in giving the world of chess a fair fight against incumbent lately dominant world chess number one and chess champion GM MC

Why's nobody mentioned Botvinnik's regaining his title from Smyslov yet? And Smyslov was 10 years younger than he was ...

VK tired. LA blunder but in shape. the rest gaint killers and game dramatizers. VA fears MC but know what he is gotta do this time a dramatic loos again. and third time to regain title next year. How does that feel.

I think it's amazing and great for Anand. The fact that he is playing so well this tournament demonstrates that he wasn't world champion for nothing and we might see a great match at the end of the year between Carlsen and Anand if he keeps this up. The pressure would be squarely on Carlsen, Anand having much less pressure than last year without a title to defend. He will also have the leg up on Carlsen preparations already, knowing what didn't work last match, what to avoid etc. I like the idea of a rematch. I hope Anand pulls through for it.
