I would argue it's rude to promote 7 knights. Just checkmate and move on. You shouldn't make someone sit around.

The player with the 7 knights isn't forcing their opponent to do anything except make the choice to resign or play on in an obviously lost position.

If a player is going to have a "never resign" mentality, they need to realize that they risk moments, where their opponent isn't seeking the quickest victory, and stop acting like a self-righteous victim when it happens. The resign button exists for a reason. Save some time, take the L, and move on to the next game.

Some people are taught to never re sign and to keep going to the death, to last man to the last breath. Like the 300 Spartans and all other Greek cultures like the Athenians, Macedonian etc etc and as a result would never accept defeat. Sometimes it's cultural upbringing.

In my experience your opponent will troll you by not finishing a game that is clearly won, because you didnt resign earlier. They think that youre wasting their time or somehow insulting them for playing on, implying you think they will throw the game away. So they waste more time, promote 4 Knights and try to annoy you til you resign. I dont agree with this midset but it does happen quite often at low levels. Although even a 3000 rated player made a video called the Mona Lisa checkmate showcasing this idea.

Yea, if theyre not gonna resign, I usually make as many knights as possible 😁

I didnt know that lichess games are a draw at 300 moves 😭

I hate people that delay checkmate. It's like toxic behavior. If I just want to get checkmated quickly instead of resignation, and move on, but no, they delay it by promoting all of their pawns. I myself never did that in my life, I always played checkmate as quickly as I could see. Sometimes I miss a quick checkmate, but I always play it as soon as I can see it

In these cases that you described either way you lose, if you resign, and if you play on, in both cases you're humiliated. I plan someday when someone does that intentionally to me to ruin their day by wasting their time as they waste my time by doing that. As a someone who is somewhat ashamed to resign, I hate those people who delay checkmate

C00lkidd_Chess

Don't be ashamed man it's a natural resignation everyone does

The only thing I have is time to waste 😝. Wanna play sometime?

C00lkidd_Chess

Sure but later

C00lkidd_Chess

Maybe unrated?
