Is the fried liver busted?

So, as an Italian game player I love playing the fried liver attack (though I'm not that good at it tongue.png) and people usually blunder somehow so I have decent win rates with it. Sadly it seems like almost everyone knows about the fried liver and they play the giuoco piano, which I like also.

But instead of just taking the fried liver, they switch it to this and I don't know how to defend!

Is this good for me? Is this good for black? am I just playing like an idiot?

After you play Ng5 you have to hope black falls into the fried liver or you have given up the initiative. A better move instead of Be2 might be Bd3, then bring the knight back to f3 and go after blacks isolated pawn

I’m not sure what you mean by not good at it. You can’t force the fried liver defense. The only way it happens is if black makes a mistake. If a mistake is made, then it plays itself.

Attack, not defense. *

8 Bd3 looks weird but I think it's the more standard play

It’s if black makes a mistake. The best move besides d5 is Bc5 which is the traxler counterattack. Really Bc5 is the best move because it doesn’t lose black as much material and forces white to rethink their position.

i don't care for it, black is down a pawn with two isolated pawns, i think Giuoco Piano is better but evens gambit is dangerous if white does that.

Thats called the main line bro but if they go 5. Nxd5 then u go 6. Nxf7 and when they take with the king u go Qf3+ and they can either give u back the knight or have their king in centre forever

Wow, this was revived. I'm a d4 player now.

I like the traxler attack but you need to be very careful, I had to watch Levy Rozman's video a couple of times to memorize all the lines.

As black I just let white take on f7.

So weird to see how in just a couple of months people change the way they play.

The scary thing is, even though it says a Knight, the engine really likes it

“Says a knight “???

I'm on mobile. I meant sacs and autocorrect changed it.

I mean, which engine are you using? happy.png Why are you using engine to prove your point? The engine may like it but I’d take black if I could

JackRoach

I'm not proving a point, I'm just saying, I think it gives at least +2 to white, so it's actually sound, and therefore should be feared.

sndeww

Idk. I don’t trust it’s soundness.

I do remember watching one of Simon Williams's videos on the King's Indian Defense, and it gave a +2 to White, where in reality, Black was doing quite well.

Don't rely on an engine too much!
