Do those organic farmers really struggle? They charge 5x more without a clear life expectancy benefit (much like modern medicine).
Nonetheless, they got me. The culture of fear...cha ching.

What; There's a whole culture of fear now? What must I buy to ease my mind of this horror and delude myself into believing I'm part of the solution?

Glad you asked; let me enlighten you...
Buy Stevia as your sweetener...it is the worst tasting crap ever (so you know it is good for you) and was once banned then unbanned by the FDA (big business or informed scientific decision...who cares? it is from mother nature!)
If you want real sugar, then buy evaporated cane juice, which is real sugar, but just called evaporated cane juice. It has the same health benefits and all the negative side effects of table sugar, but it's called evaporated cane juice and costs a lot more! You get what you pay for!
If that is no good, then get agave syrup. It is sweet and also loaded with lots of calories, but if it is labelled organic, it's good for you and you will be immortal!
Drink/eat/chew all wheat/oat/barley grass products. We humans evolved to ingest that crap (which is what it becomes very quickly).
What else what else what else? Somebody help...I am new to this stuff. Nopal cactus and magnetic sanitization (how do you think those cavemen near the north pole lived for 40,000 years?!). Any pond scum product is good.
Give me a break. Vegatables are great with a hunk of Meat. If we were meant to eat only vegatables and grass we would have teeth like a cow or a horse. We as humans have teeth for both.
Teeth are God's way of giving us free will; If we were only capable of eating either meat or grass, we wouldn't be truly free. However, just because we are given the ability to eat meat, doesn't mean we aren't going to hell for it.
I never said I'm going to hell for eating meat, but there are those who would throw me there because they think they feel the pain of these poor souls that have been persecuted for a thousand centuries.

Nobody can feel that kind of pain, but eating organic and doing yoga is about as close as you're going to get.
If you have a problem with treatment with animals, why not try organic meats then?
I agree that the factory style conditions are pretty awful for the animals. In addition, the nutrients are diminished considerably because of the hormones in the animals. Corn is not good feed for a cow. It makes them very large, but it also is terrible for their health, and the quality of meat is much lower.
Organic meats are small farmers who raise cows on grass and natural free range. These meats are considerably better in nutritional value and they do not contain hormones. The treatment of these animals is also very good.
Organic farmers struggle making money against the factory farm system, and the FDA has gone out of its way to help big business. So why not support them by buying organic?
I didn't stop eating meat because I thought it was "healthier" for me. I stopped because I started to think on my own. I no longer understood why any animal was killed for my diet. I didn't need to eat meat to live, so why would I contribute to other people's choices of making a profit off of killing beings which I had an affinity with? None of it made sense.
I know the society I live in, is profit driven. I know that the meat industry will continue to relentlessly saturate the media with propaganda aimed solely at continuing their profits. Much like how the auto industry did not care to make electric cars, or cars that could run for hundreds of miles off of a gallon of gas. Their ability to advance was stopped solely for profit.
I also know that people have a difficult time about both understanding their freedom, and changing their mind, so there are many people adding to the propaganda-for-profit industries, which would like nothing better than to see people supporting their immoral way they make money.
And since morality is an idea, like freedom, which is a life-long endeavor to think about and learn, I choose to try to do so.

I'm not quoting this for any reason other than to preserve it in the case that you leave again.
What the hell does organic have to do with it? Okay the animal has been organically raised and slaughtered so children can eat their "Happy Meal" with a toy and their parents feeling good that at least the poor animal died happy as hell that he didn't die in vain.
I was never persuaded by advertisers to eat meat. Before Television was even a source of influence I ate meat, like my parents, like my Grandparents and everybody else's Grandparents.
I tried to respond trysts, but my computer had a bsod and now the keyboard is working intermittently. Also my internet receiver of my wireless and ethernet does not register either of them working. Now I am just frustrated after losing my post. I might come back later when I am done steaming.
Now to open the window and throw this laptop out. Piece of garbage.
#127- If you think the "Organic propaganda for profit industry" is not ripping off the "Do Gooder" consumer then you have been conned big time.
This is a complicated topic. Man found benefit in eating meat in the hunter gatherer days because animal flesh contains more calories and protien per cubic inch than fruits or vegetables. There is certainly no necesity to eat meat to survive today.
However, the domesticated animals we eat today are not as well suited to exist in the wild as the ones out ancestors hunted. If we stopped eating pork and beef, what would become of pigs and cows? You can't just release them into the wilderness of Iowa and Nebraska because no such wilderness exists anymore. Even if it did, these animals have been bred to be more docile than the wild versions of themselves. Chickens and turkies would be toast. There's a reason that states like Iowa have a year round bounty on coyotes.
One thing to consider about organic produce is that while no pesticide or synthetic fertilizer is added to the soil, there's no way of knowing how much residual chemical is in the ground. The idea of organic food is pretty recent in the history of farming, and the use of chemical growth enhancers and pesticides was embraced universally for decades. My mother's father was an organic farmer, but it wasn't by choice. Modern chemicals weren't available.
When I look at the organic fruit and vegetables at the store, it always looks all rotting and beat up and small, but it always costs twice as much.
On occasion the comment, "That was unusually nice of you, is everything okay?" has been directed at me. I don't know tryst from [insert one of numerous items I know little or nothing about - I'll go with tuberculosis], but I see no reason to worry. Unless you enjoy conspiracy theories.
I think pathfinder416 identified the cause that made this thread happen. With the difference that I pushed things a little and, based on the covert nature of internet usernames, I called trysts an impostor spurring an interesting discussion thereof.
