In a situation with King and pawn VS King, it is not always that easy to evaluate if your position is winning or not. Occupying a Key squares is a sufficient condition to have a winning position (for the mathematicians out there, it is not a necessary condition !).
Thus, simply knowing which are the Key squares is a very good start to assess if your position is winning or not:
