Could anyone come up with a list of the twenty basic principles of good chess play? For example, 'castle early,' 'control the center of the board,' 'don't bring the queen out too early,' etc.
How about 30? This is a list from Richard Shorman's site, taken from Reuben Fine's "Chess The Easy Way", and slightly modified.
