Is this a moan and complain forum? You can't play online chess when you're disconnected. I was playing on a different server and I don't get a chance to reconnect when I get disconnected. I'm convinced it's BabasChess. Now I don't play at that other server as often.

It has to be a loss, otherwise, people who were losing games would just log off to avoid the loss.
When your electricty goes out it shuts off your internet connection, thus disconnecting you from the live chess server. If you do not recommend within 2 minutes the server will deem the game abandoned. this is done by the Fair Play Policy : http://support.chess.com/Knowledgebase/Article/View/171/0/fair-play-policy
And when a game is deemed abandoned you lose rating points :( (unless the game is unrated of course)
It is fair for people who intentionally abort games. But not for those who have a mate in a few moves. Chess.com has powerful supercomputers that can evalvate the value of position. So you should set a value when its a draw or win. Eg if its > 3 then white wins, if 3 to -3 then draw(OR no rating change), if
In the games you talked about you have advantage in first game but in second opponent has an extra piece so even by your formula you are lost. Also in correspondence chess ( disconnection can't disturb you there ) your rating is lower than live chess so don't worry too much about ratings and enjoy playing! Only a few sites allow adjourment on disconnection and then you have to restart game if opponent willing but many don't co-oprate in lost position and you have to lodge claim. Hardly a good alternative.
I was playing live chess. I had a mate in a few moves at my first game but electricity got off and i was disconnected from the game. I thought there would be no rating change but there was. Then after a few mins electricity was on so i played another game with limpspider. But electricity was again switched off and i was decrealed as loser. Again my rating went low. What the hell¿
