We'll be in McAllen starting December 3rd. Are there any chess players on here that would like to play a bit of otb? Bob

Playing online allows you to bypass terrestrial constraints.  It is ironic you use the interneet to solicit "extra terrestrial" events.

Is anyone in Calcutta this afternoon, let's have a OTB chess game.  I know we can play now online, but let's fly to Calcutta and play chess OTB!!!

You don't understand. Nothing beats OTB chess. It's the human connection. There's nothing wrong or ironic about using the "interneet" to set up OTB games.

I agree, I want that also.  However, how can we make it happen if I am in China and you are in, well, "Calcutta"?  I think you missed my joke

Nothing missed on my end. I understand that OTB is all about local connections; Long distance doesn't work. But if you can find ANY local connections, then it's worth the effort.

Then let's see you laugh.

As you wish...I'm laughing AT YOU. This thread was not deserving of ridicule.

It was not ridicule.  You obviously took it the wrong way.

Then you need to learn how to make better jokes.

Ok, what would make you laugh then?  Tell us your funniest joke.

Atm, the funniest joke I know is you. Sorry if I'm not in a humorous mood right now. I thought your "joke" was in extremely poor taste and was definitely ridiculing the OP.

@OP, I hope you find some games in McAllen. I haven't been there in a number of years, and given the situation near the Texas-Mexico border, I have no plans to go there. If you're willing to venture down there, you have my utmost respect.
