That sounds so good!
My first ever classical game!
Don’t be nervous. Don’t try to predict your outcome. Congratulate yourself for being at this level. Start conversation with your opponent before the game and analyse with him after. Take your time- you probably won’t run out of it. Review prep before the game. Make sure no devices are in your pocket- they are face down on the table. During breaks between games, don’t overeat, don’t play video games, don’t analyse, just socialize. During a game, don’t feel pressure (something I can’t do anymore). Instead, play your best. CCT, double check moves, think of ideas… all that normal chess stuff. During games, remember to take short breaks (walking arond for 30s). Remember that this is over the board, so you must look at every part of the board.

I'll just give you one tip. Have a good night's sleep the day before and stay hydrated throughout the day. Classical format really tests your physical endurance as well. Good luck for tomorrow!
Few advice for classical game:
Never ever play fast
Double triple check everything
Before you make a move sit on your hands
You will probably forget to press clock or write a move several times. I think it may be a good idea to tell arbiter before the game it’s your first classical game and ask him to be tolerant because he must force players to write every move.
Hello, I hope you’re doing well!
On Sunday, the 15th february 2026 I will play my first ever classical game including my first ever otb tournament!I am excited to play but I have some doubts due to a lack of experience in otb. I don’t even know techniques like how to trade pieces fast or how to press the clock fast. I know, it’s not that hard and classical games don’t really require speed at all. But I would really appreciate if anyone has any tips for me (maybe on time management or how not to forget writing the moves on the paper or something else).
Thanks in advance!
