Yes but after 39 moves he was under 2 min and i was like 14min so i just targeted his time rather postion. This game played under 90 min time control.

After 7...b5!? you do not need to play 8. a3. you can just play 8. f3, since after 8...b4 9. Na4! Your knight is actually well placed, and white's queenside pawns will start to fall.
In short, inviting b5-b4 is sometimes beneficial to white.
Black will probably play 8...Bb7, but after 9. Be3 Be7 10. 0-0 0-0 11. Qd2 white has a slight advantage.
