v2 is the old version of the site and v3 is the newer version. It's a temporal statement

Are you sure it is not to deter people from using V2? As in "come try NEW AND IMPROVED"....vs "use this old piece of junk"

It has said the same thing for the two years I've been using it. Most peope don't even know the site refers to them as v2 and v3 and that labeling would cause more confusion.

It was in development and testing up until November of 2016. Still getting updates and bug fixes, but yes, it has been active for about 2 and a half years.
The feedback group was started in August of 2014 and a lot of the site was up already, as I recall . I didn't use it much initially so can't say how complete it was at that time.

Are you sure about that? Almost everyone I talk to knows the rival between V2 and V3 and even a little history behind them...

Well, it is a little less unknown now but when I first started posting in topics about the new version and posted v2/v3 a lot of people asked what that meant or how to tell what version they were on.
So, other than very active members, and mainly those in the forums, I think that would be true still.

why they insist on calling V2 old, as if derogatory, and V3 "NEW" and flashy? The link to V2 should say V2, not "OLD chess dot com" to make you feel bad for clicking link.
V3 link should say V3 as it is not really new today. Just my opinion. I like V3.
