No, there is no "one-move-fits-all-opening". It always depends on what your opponent is playing.
As a beginner, you should concentrate more on basic opening principles than on learning opening theory (sure, if you want to you can learn the first moves of your favourite openings' main line but on a low rating level you will not encounter a lot of theoretic openings anyway). And by opening principles I mean things like:
- control the centre
- develop all your pieces to active squares
- castle your king
- etc.
I hope that helps.
I have a question for all chess enthusiasts. I would like to know if there is a chess opening that is very versatile and can respond to any moves or tricks thrown at it, with ease.
Also, for beginners what's the best opening strategy? can someone tell.
